The Difference Between Flow-Combining Valves And Flow-Dividing Valves

The flow-combining valve is installed in the return lines of two actuators, merging the return flow from both load circuits into a single return path.

In a flow-dividing valve, the two flow sensors share a common inlet pressure; the greater the flow rate passing through a sensor, the lower its corresponding outlet pressure. Conversely, in a flow-combining valve, the two flow sensors share a common outlet; the greater the flow rate passing through a sensor, the higher its corresponding inlet pressure. Consequently, the direction of pressure feedback in a flow-combining valve is exactly opposite to that of a flow-dividing valve.

The flow-combining valve can only ensure synchronization during the return stroke of the actuators.
